Kate
Hendricks represents publishers, manufacturers, internet businesses,
trademark owners, photographers, musicians, writers, software
developers and other creative clients and concentrates her practice in
the areas of copyright, trademark and unfair trade practices. She is an
experienced litigator, mediator and arbitrator and counsels clients on
a wide range of business issues, including licensing, advertising and
packaging. Ms. Hendricks is a past chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Washington State Bar Association and has served as Special District Counsel to the State Bar Association on intellectual property matters. She assisted in the development of Washington state legislation to protect rights of publicity and is the past chair of the Right of Publicity Subcommittee of the International Trademark Association and as such was responsible for drafting a federal right of publicity bill. She has chaired the trademark section of the University of Washington Intellectual Property certificate program, and is the author of the "Intellectual Property" chapter of the Washington Civil Practice Deskbook. She is also a panel member of the American Arbitration Association, National Arbitration Forum, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority mediation and arbitration programs. Ms. Hendricks holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received her law degree from Boston University where she was an editor of the law review. She is a member of the bars of Massachusetts, Colorado and Washington and a number of federal trial and appellate courts. |
